Jewish Ancestral Healing for Collective Liberation

*they really mean 2024

Last year was the first time White Awake—a training organization I've long admired—offered a course that "invites participants to examine the places where whiteness & white supremacy entered our lineage and where Jewishness was lost, stolen, erased. We will look at how these patterns show up in our bodies and our beliefs & where healing is available to us, individually and collectively."

For most of my life, my claim to be white and Jewish was really squishy: those identities lived on demographic intake forms, and that's about it. As my study of antiracism exposed how systems of supremacy work, I began to see how my own lack of claim to my identities was an effect of those very systems. So I stepped in and took this course.

As an educator, I appreciated the varied and creative ways the facilitators worked with both participants and the content. As a learner, I appreciated the indepth conversations, myriad resources, and opportunities for personal & group reflection. I posted a piece about some of my early reflections. Do let me know if you register: I'd love to chat about what you experience.
